Nimba University College is a "new-old" institution of higher learning established in 2009 by the Government of the Republic of Liberia. It is "old" in that; it is an institution of higher learning formerly known as "Nimba County Community College", NCCC, for short. Because of the absence of a viable higher education institution in Nimba County, several political leaders and prominent citizens advocated for the elevation of the Community college to a University College in 2020.
